CBS News Chicago returned to Studio A on July 8, 2024, aiming to engage more closely with the community by moving newscasts back to its former streetside home.
The space had been mostly unused since 2017, when WBBM moved newscasts to Studio B.
Significant upgrades included a full restoration of the studio’s floor and lighting grid, incorporating modern LED technology and design elements similar to other CBS-owned stations including KCAL News Los Angeles and CBS News Colorado.
