MSNBC uses wrong Fox logo

TVNewser reports that MSNBC’s “Hardball” used the logo of Fox Broadcasting during a “White House vs. Fox” segment Monday.
MSNBC told the blog that the logo was used in error and that it would be updated for the 7 p.m. version of “Hardball.”
TVNewser also notes that “When Bill O’Reilly references MSNBC, he generally uses the umbrella ‘NBC News’ or ‘NBC’s cable news network” description’” rather than the channel’s proper name.

Fox O&Os to centralize graphics
From Florida News Center: Starting this summer, News Corp. is centralizing all graphics to the Tampa facility of WTVT-TV. While the company will be hiring people for these positions, it will also eliminate jobs at each of its O&O stations.
According to insiders, Tampa was selected as the base of the new graphics operation because of the skill set staffers there.
The move includes rolling out the graphics package being used in Dallas and New York, a blue look that utilizes monitors as a prominent graphical element:
MyFOX’s reboot

Many MyFOX sites have rebooted and relaunched with a new sleeker interface.
Originally the MyFOX sites were big, gaudy, and altogether pretty bad. The video players were clunky and the sites looked like they were stuck in 2000. Now, FOX television stations have rolled out version two of the MyFOX sites with a much cleaner and much nicer user interface.
Stations also now have the option of how their site logo looks, for example in LA the logo uses just text. In NY the MyFOX logo uses an animated gif where the FOX 5 logo changes into the MyFOXNY logo.
Overall the sites are a big improvement. Its interesting how the new Tribune/Local TV sites are also similar, just with less flashy effects.
‘Studio B’ takes up residence in 12H

One of Shepherd Smith’s shows, “The Fox Report,” has been using Fox News Channels new HD studio 8H for about a month now, and now his other show has followed suit, reports TVNewser.
“Studio B” has, somewhat ironically, moved over to studio 8H. Though the show name and studio number don’t match, it’s probably not likely that Fox will rename the studio. Somehow “Studio 8H” doesn’t quite have the ring of “Studio B.”
I always thought “Studio B” was a little bit of an odd naming choice since, for me at least, it seems to imply the show is somehow second-rate (think “B-Roll” or “B-list”)…
Fox to go all HD, all the time
From Multichannel News: “Within two years, Fox’s television network group plans to distribute its broadcast network and all of its cable services exclusively in high-definition — eliminating standard-definition feeds — with an infrastructure upgrade the company expects will double its satellite capacity.”

WNYW-TV HD spotted in the wild

WNYW-TV in New York is preparing to launch in high definition just weeks after KTTV-TV in LA launched HD.
In this clip from the MyFoxNY.com website you can see Brett Larson in the current HD WNYW-TV control room with their new HD logo in the background. from this one picture, the new logo looks very interesting, as does the graphics.
Keep a lookout for the new WYNW-TV soon, too bad they didn’t go HD for the World Series on FOX…
A look at how FNC uses extra HD space
:
From TVNewser: Fox News Channel HD was recently added to the high def lineup available to DirecTV subscribers, and thse viewers have access to additional news and information in the right-hand bar similar to the approach used by CNBC and other cable news outlets.
In the extra space, rotating “modules” of information such as sports, business, weather and news headlines list tidbits of news and information. In addition, the space is also used to promote Fox News Channel programming.
