With the debut of this week’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” MSNBC also began using a smaller studio set that mimics the design of the main New York City newsroom.
The set includes back lit elements and the former anchor desk of “Morning Joe” and “The Rachel Maddow Show.” The set was designed by Clickspring Design and fabricated by blackwalnut.

In addition to the branded duratrans, as seen to the far left here, the set also makes use the flat panel monitors (seen here with the purple-toned “Last Word” imagery) as background elements.
The graphics package for the show makes use of a rich purple and ribbons of text that radiate out like signals.
Here’s an example of the OTS screen and branded dura to the right.
