Phoenix station revamping studios

KPHO-TV, the Meredith-owned CBS affiliate in Phoenix, is in the midst of a revamp of its studio facilities.

At the center of the renovations is the former home of children’s show “Wallace and Ladmo,” which will see a $750,000 makeover.

All told, the station will spend nearly $1 million updating the studio and newsroom.

Changes include making the studio more energy efficient and adding an open mezzanine. The newsroom will be upgraded with new workstations that will allow every staffer to edit video and access other technological resources right from their desks. In addition, a “content center hub” will be created, reports the Phoenix Business Journal.

The physical changes represent a key step in making the station more efficient in delivering news and information across multiple platforms.
