Seattle station to air hybrid online, on air special

KIRO-TV morning traffic anchor Jenni Hogan will host a special multiplatform event Thursday.

The special, titled “Connect with Jenni Hogan,” will begin as a live stream on the station’s website beginning at 10 p.m. local time. at 10:30 p.m., the show will go live on the station’s main channel.

Throughout the entire hour, viewers will be able to participate via Twitter, including through the station’s Twitter account, Hogan’s Twitter account and the hashtag #KIROConnect.

The half-online, half-on air format is an interesting approach that allows both online centric and more traditional viewers to participate in separate ways that eventually converge. In addition, the station will offer up tips during the on-air portion of the broadcast on how viewers who don’t use social media can get involved.

Hogan has already built a name for herself in the social media sphere, racking up over 41,000 followers, one of the top of any local news personality in the country.
