NetNewsCheck has an article by KMOV’s Bryce Moore about the future of mobile at local stations, discussing the “beast” that many stations ignore.

“It seems easy, but don’t be deceived. For many a mobile strategy is as simple as funneling Web feeds into an app template, adding snappy creative and then tacking mobile impressions onto existing sales decks. Set it and forget it. This approach fits nicely with the present reality of newsrooms that have been scaled down to streamlined, no-fat news operations. But we can do much better.”

“If advertisers are pushing hard, the audience is pulling harder. The greatest challenge (or more of a concern) for news operations is that users have frighteningly high expectations for their mobile devices and the content within them.”
