‘GMA’ goes with circle motif — much like its main rival — in graphics redesign

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that although there are some interesting similarities between the ring-motif “GMA” is now using and NBC News‘ “Today.”
“Today” uses the “half” sunrise rings from the show’s logo as a frequent background element in full screen graphics, wipes and snipes, though it redid its open in January 2018 to have less rings and more horizontal bars, which, somewhat ironically, was more like the old “GMA” look.
In addition, Chicago’s ABC O&O, WLS, also updated the bug that rotates between the “Circle 7” logo and circular “GMA” logo that’s used during news and weather cut-ins throughout the morning.

Meanwhile, as of noon eastern time, ABC has not updated its Twitter or Facebook social media avatars or its website GoodMorningAmerica.com with the new logo. All three pages are still sporting the ‘GMA’ with the ‘swish.’ ABC appears to have last updated its Facebook profile image, at least according to the timestamp, with a version of the old logo surrounded by what appears to be a coffee cup ring — a look MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ has used for years.
