‘CBS This Morning’ changes up look for new anchors’ debut

The newscast’s changes are not limited to the graphics — the show has also changed how it shoots the set.

Starting Monday, home base has been essentially flipped so the anchors start the show with the seamless video wall — and window overlooking the street — behind them.

The new look removes the New York City imagery from both the opening title animation and video wall behind home base.

As shown in this screen capture from Friday, ‘CBS This Morning’ previously kicked off the top of the show with all three anchors gathered behind one side of the circular desk. This angle used the segmented, non-seamless video wall and glass box green room and studio access point as the background. The video wall graphic, meanwhile, featured the date along the top with a New York City skyline view.

The anchor team remains at Studio 57’s circular anchor desk — without its wings — and the opening shot has been changed to a push in combined with side-to-side movement. This shot also showcases the large, segmented CBS eye on the freestanding video wall, along with white and blue lozenge style background on the on-set video panels.

The seamless video wall behind home base now features a ‘segmented’ CBS eye background that combines a quasi-3D yellow eye that features diagonal extruded elements.

Previously, ‘CBS This Morning’ would move to an ‘in the round’ style setup after ‘EyeOpener,’ but now positions all three anchors against the video wall wall with King in the center. This is notably similar to Robin Roberts’ position on the ‘GMA’ set.
