DirecTV adds support for Meta Quest VR headsets

DirecTV has launched an entertainment for Meta Quest headsets.
Meta Quest, which is made by Facebook parent Meta, offers users an extended reality that includes elements of both virtual reality and augmented reality.
DirecTV is the first MVPD to launch on the Meta Horizon Store and Meta Horizon TV platforms, according to the company.
The new offering is depicted as using a “floating frame” theater display that shows an experience inspired by traditional smart TV and streaming user interfaces as well as a familiar video player look.
The app works on Meta Quest 3 and 3S, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro models.
In addition to paid DirecTV subscribers, the company is also opening the Quest experience to all users of the headsets at no cost, which includes access to over 150 channels of free, ad-supported streaming television offerings.
It’s difficult to gauge how popular video content is within VR headsets. Most manufacturers don’t release meaningful usage data publicly.
