A longtime Pittsburgh reporter is leaving television news after over 40 years to pursue an acting career.

Sheldon Ingram, who has been with Hearst Television’s WTAE in Steel City since 1992, will leave the station May 29, 2026.

His departure is being labeled as a retirement.

He’s already scheduled to appear in the play “Coconut Cake” at the New Horizon Theater in Pittsburgh starting May 28, 2026.

Ingram has said acting has been a longtime interest of his and he’s looking forward to pursuing it full-time.

He has appeared as a deputy mayor in an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” and says he will be pursuing film, TV, live theatre and voiceover work, potentially covering national commercials, promos, animation and narration as well as movie trailers.

Before WTAE, Ingram worked at WVEC in Norfolk, Virginia. He also worked for CNN in Atlanta as well as in the Chattanooga, Tennessee, market.
