Gray Media has closed on its previously announced deal to acquire 15 of Allen Media Group’s television stations.
The deal, valued at $171 million, entered its first phase on March 26, 2026, and covers former Allen stations in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri:
- WAAY in Huntsville, Alabama
- WALE-LD and WCOV in Montgomery, Alabama
- WSIL Harrisburg–Carbondale, Illinois
- WREX in Rockford, Illinois
- WEVV and WEEV-LD in Evansville, Indiana
- WFFT in Ft. Wayne, Indiana
- WLFI in Lafayette, Indiana
- WTHI in Terre Haute, Indiana
- KADN and KLAF-LD in Lafayette, Louisiana
- WTVA in Tupelo–Columbus, Mississippi
- KPOB in Poplar Bluff, Missouri
Allen Media still owns 18 stations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon and Wisconsin.
With the addition of the Allen stations, Gray now reaches 117 full-power markets. This covers 37% of the country’s television households.
In most cases, the Allen deal gives Gray “operational efficiencies” in several markets and regions.
The deal was framed as a way to balance both company’s portfolios. It allows Gray to expand its local television portfolio as broadcast consolidation continues to affect the industry. Allen, meanwhile, has been shifting focus to national networks and digital platforms.
