CNN to update New York bureau

CNN will soon begin work in New York City.

NewscastStudio first heard rumors of the coming changes this spring, and TVNewser has now confirmed.

“TVNewser hears that the fifth floor studio where CNN Money produces its video reports will become the temporary home to more CNN programs, including those that now use the fourth floor studio. CNN is expected to renovate and redesign the main studio and newsroom on the fourth floor.”

Time Warner will be switching buildings in a few years, so this upgrade is just a quick fix.

The main area being worked on is the network’s New York City Bureau on the fourth floor, which is often used as a flash cam position on air.

While the workstations in this area were recently replaced, our source says plans to overhaul the former “Communications Center” set that once adjoined this area have been scrapped. This set, which is now walled off from the newsroom area and played host to a variety of New York City based programs, including high profile election coverage in 2008, is only regularly used for a few shows, including “Erin Burnett OutFront” and “Early Start,” and has been significantly stripped down and switched to a more muted color scheme.
