On the road again: 8 flexible traveling anchor desks

The Tennis Channel

The Tennis Channel has a simple traveling desk that’s visually flexible enough to be used in a wide variety of venues.

Designed by Innovative Show Design, the desk features the network logo on one side and a large video ribbon to the left, allowing it to show localized or branded graphics based on the location in question. In the example shown above, the channel used a New York skyline for its 2015 U.S. Open coverage.

NHL Network

NHL Network has a traveling desk, also from Creative Dimensions, that can also include a wraparound knee wall designed to mimic the look of an ice skating rink’s wall. A branded glossy, rink-like white floor covering fronts the desk. The desk’s simple shape and black top also make it reminiscent of a section of a hockey puck.

The desk itself is notable because it offers three locations for cutout branding logos — two frosted panels and a center space with two metal rods. These could be used for opposing teams’ logos plus one NHL logo, or two NHL logos and an event logo with sponsor, as above.

The design also plays homage to the network logo’s sharp “hooks” with two decorative slats on either end.
