Oregon station uses Facebook Timeline to mark 50th anniversary

Stemming from our post last week about TV news outlets’ use of the Facebook Timeline layout, an anonymous reader pointed out that KATU-TV, the Fisher-owned ABC affiliate in Portland, Ore., has found another creative use of Timeline.

The station is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and enhanced its Timeline with historic events in the station and viewing area’s past.

For example, the station has 1983 marked as the year stereo audio was introduced on its airwaves as well as when nearby Mount St. Helens erupted. On the latter event, the station even tagged Mount St. Helens’ location page.

Check out the station’s Facebook page here. To see these historic posts, click the year navigation on in the light blue area just to the right of the main content.
