NBC News has taken the wraps off of NBCLatino.com, a news and lifestyle website geared toward an Latino audience.
The site, which was first announced in late 2011, spent the first part of its life as a Tumblr blog.
Now, the website sports full-fledged content. The homepage spotlights stories, video and other information using rectangle and square blocks, similar to those used on Today.com. The site also integrates closely with social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
The new NBCLatino.com site is powered by WordPress VIP, a premium, paid version of the popular blogging and content management system. It’s interesting to note that NBC opted not to use the proprietary content management system use on MSNBC.com and Today.com, instead taking the route that CBS and Local TV used for their local station sites.
NBCLatino joins CNNEnEspanol.com, CNN’s Spanish language site that launched last November.
