AccuWeather refreshes Android app with new design, performance

AccuWeather launched a new app for Google’s Android this week. The new app features better performance and a new look that matches its other platforms.

“AccuWeather is committed to providing this exciting new technology and usability to all Android app users, supplying the best, most relevant and localized forecasts to people everywhere on Earth, helping them make informed decisions,” said Steven Smith, president of digital media at AccuWeather. “We’re excited to be one of the first major brands to implement Google’s material design, which gives our users a beautifully designed app with a superior user experience.”

The new look and feel meets material design guidelines developed in close collaboration with Google’s Android team, according to an AccuWeather release.

Users will also experience enhanced location management, enhanced performance in dynamic radar and satellite animation, a new video experience for breaking weather and viral video content, as well as an all-new design for the AccuWeather “follow-me” widget to provide instant weather information on the go.
