Back in 2008, KTLA is Los Angeles used orange as prominently to create a sophisticated and slightly darker mood.

In addition to a somewhat subdued shade of orange, that appeared in text, OTS elements, as an accent on lower thirds and as a sort of sepia-toned effect on imagery, the station also used a dark gray-blue, which is notable given that orange and blue are complimentary on the color wheel.
