“NBC Nightly News” used digital scans of the memo more of a background element — and pulled out key parts in a white box that revealed the passages letter by letter, much like typewritten text would appear.
Cut out photos of key players were also set against the memo background, which often had a textured effect added to it by NBC News.
Dark blue boxes with a different font were used to illustrate key points not quoted directly from the memo.
For a second package on the story, NBC switched to close-up, angled views of the memo, with black “highlights” and reversed out text used to spotlight key quotes.
