SiriusXM to expand weather coverage with Fox Weather deal

An audio feed of Fox Weather is ready to take over The Weather Channel’s alerts spot on the SiriusXM lineup as part of a new agreement that also expands weather content for users.

The feed debuts June 3, 2026, on Channel 799. The deal with FNM covers North American subscribers who have 360L-compatible equipment or the service’s app.

The launch comes at a key time: The Atlantic hurricane season starts just days before.

With Fox Weather’s debut, Channel 799 will become a 24/7 audio simulcast. Under The Weather Channel, it was activated on an as-needed basis only.

As part of the new distribution agreement, SiriusXM will also activate the feed for all users using over-the-air technology, including those without a paid subscription, during severe weather events.

Fox Weather started as a FAST offering in 2021. It has picked up distribution via DirecTV, Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Verizon Fios, The Roku Channel, YouTube and its vMVPD service, Vizio Watchfree+, LG Channels, Fire TV Channels, Hulu + Live TV, Dish Network and Fox’s own Fox One streamer. It can also be seen on over-the-air signals in select markets. 

Terms of the deal were not announced, though it’s worth noting that Fox Weather is widely available for free, unlike The Weather Channel, so it’s possible SiriusXM is able to save money with the switch.

Channel 799 is currently home to The Weather Channel, which is known as “Alerts From the Weather Channel.”

SiriusXM had a long history with The Weather Channel going back to 1999, when it debuted on what was then XM. Sirius got the channel in 2002 and it continued after the two satellite radio services merged in 2008. 

SiriusXM also offered four regional channels for traffic and weather until 2023, known as SiriusXM 1st Traffic & Weather. New York and Los Angeles each had their own channel, with Chicago, Illinois, Detroit, Michigan, and Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas sharing a third and Boston, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., sharing the fourth.

Channel 799 is only available on compatible 360L hardware, which uses a combination of satellite and wireless internet to deliver content, which can be enhanced with additional features not available via traditional satellite-only feeds. This does require the device to have an internet connection.

During severe weather events, the Fox Weather feed will be available on non-360L devices at no extra cost. 

SiriusXM has long offered audio feeds of a variety of television networks. Networks including CNN, CNBC, MS NOW, FNC and Fox Business are already included. There are also a variety of channels featuring repackaged content from linear broadcasters, such as “Today” and “Dateline”-branded channels in partnership with NBCUniversal.
