NBC News led the broadcast news competition for the week of June 8, 2026, with “Today,” “NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas,” “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker” and “NBC News Daily” each scoring key wins.
According to Nielsen Media Research data provided to NCS by the network, “Today” and “NBC News Daily” scored wins in both total viewers and a key demo, while “NBC Nightly News” and “Meet the Press” won the demo race only.
The wins came during a week that included major sports programming across television, including the NBA Finals, FIFA World Cup and NHL Stanley Cup Final.
“Today” with anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin led the morning show race across total viewers and key demos, averaging 3.1 million total viewers and 682,000 adults 25-54. The broadcast posted its 21st consecutive weekly win in total viewers, its longest streak since April 2012, while extending its lead among adults 25-54 to 132 consecutive weeks. Season-to-date, “Today” leads the morning competition across key measures.
“NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas” led the evening news race for the week among adults 25-54, averaging 1.1 million viewers in the demo. The broadcast posted its largest advantage over “ABC World News Tonight” in the demo in four months.
“Nightly News” also continued its longest streak of year-over-year growth among adults 25-54 since November 2008. Season-to-date, the broadcast is posting its closest key demo gaps against ABC in six years.
“Meet the Press with Kristen Welker” led the Sunday public affairs category among adults 25-54 on June 14, 2026, averaging 390,000 viewers in the demo. The program has won five of the past eight weeks in the demo and continues to lead season-to-date.
“NBC News Daily” also won the week across total viewers and key demos, topping “GMA3” as well as CNN and MS NOW’s noon to 4 p.m. blocks. The program averaged 1.5 million total viewers and 307,000 adults 25-54.
NBC News also said “Daily” beat FNC in key demos — without providing details — and notes its programming “continues to lead afternoon news programming across television among adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 in its noon to 4 p.m. daypart season-to-date.”
