France Télévisions developed a production system for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina to connect athletes and presenters across four mountain venues without transporting them long distances. The broadcaster built a network of insert studios in Livigno, Bormio, Anterselva and Predazzo, each equipped with green screens and identical robotic camera systems.
These studios use synchronized robotic camera arms that mirror movements from the main studio in Milan, allowing remote guests to appear as if they are in the same space. The Milan operation is based at the International Broadcast Centre. The space combines physical set elements with extended reality set extensions that integrate live feeds from the remote locations. Matching camera angles, lighting and seating create the effect of a single studio and allow interviews to take place shortly after competition events end.
