New look for NBC London bureau

NBC’s Brian Williams reported “NBC Nightly News” from London last night, reporting from the network’s London offices.

Last year NBC announced that it would move its London Bureau into a shared facility with ITN; though it’s not clear if this new look is in that new location.

The new look keeps the large “NBC NEWS LONDON” header but replaces the duratran, shown at right (sorry about the small size). The old dura featured a illustration-style cityscape. In the new newsroom, three freestanding plasma screens display a panoramic image of London. These are flanked by two vertical screens that display MSNBC; an approach we wrote about in NewscastTip a while back.

It’s interesting to note that Brian Williams did not seem to be reporting from the main camera location. That location, shown below, is more straight-on and also makes better use of the large space between the “NBC NEWS” and “LONDON” that’s left open for peoples’ heads.
