UPDATED: FX Group tells us they did not design this set.
KSN-TV, the NBC affiliate serving Joplin, Mo., has posted a video giving viewers a preview of its new set.
While the new set has similarities to one posted on FX Group’s Web site’s “fresh new designs” section, an FX representative tells us they did not design the set.
This set was an attempt at an edgy, unique design that unfortunately fell flat.
The large curved columns in the middle of the studio are much too large and bulky and also seem out of place; almost plopped into the middle of the studio at random.
The set’s printed graphics also lack any real punch and come across as muddy in many places.
The goal of the new design, according to the station, is to make the station appear like it’s in a much bigger market.
One of the station’s weather forecasters even went to the extent of comparing the set to NBC’s “Nightly News” set.
