Nexstar to combine Fresno stations into single facility

Nexstar, which recently closed on its dela to acquire KGPE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Fresno, Calif., plans to move that station in with KSEE-TV, the market’s NBC station, which the group also recently purchased.

The move to “co-locate” station it owns is hardly new; Nexstar will open an HD facility for its Memphis area stations June 1 and also created a single facility in Little Rock.

Plans call for the KSEE-TV building to be renovated to include new newsroom areas, sets and production upgrades.

The two stations began sharing stories in April and will continue to operate from separate buildings during renovations.

Nexstar picked KSEE-TV’s building because it’s already equipped with dual studios and control rooms, unlike the KGPT-TV facility, which has only one.

Station officials aren’t saying when the move will be complete or how much the renovations will cost.
