WMAR-TV debuted a new type of news program this week in Baltimore, dubbed “In Focus.”
The show puts the focus on in-depth journalism and airs at 6PM. Think of it like a local “Dateline.”
“We are all covering the same news every day,” said News Director Kelly Groft to TVNewsCheck. “This is news but it takes a little longer. We let it breathe.”
For the show, the Scripps affiliate invested in a new set addition by Park Place Studio. The area has a 3×3 monitor array and large backlit paneling that’s colored red and white.
Graphically, the show uses a simple package with glass effects.
“We are very serious, and I think it shows an investment in our product and an investment in our market and to our viewers,” Groft said. “We are evolving and bringing them into something different.”
