WX Channel typo: ‘Erika’s cone sh*ts east’

Once again, it’s been proven that one small slip of a finger on a keyword can lead to embarrassing gaffes.

The Weather Channel meant to use the word “shift” in a post saying that Tropical Storm Erika had changed directions.

Unfortunately, an “F” was left out and that lead to a much different meaning.

The post was eventually deleted from the Weather Channel’s Facebook page and re-posted, but of course not before plenty of folks took notice of the typo and capture the evidence, using social media to spread screenshots of it.

In reposting the story, the Weather Channel wasn’t taking any chances — the word “shifts” was replaced with the word “heads.”
