CBS to use pylon camera for NFL coverage

The “NFL on CBS” will have an extra view this season, as CBS rolls out the field-level pylon camera.

The “Pylon Cam” will be used for selected games on “Thursday Night Football” and the “NFL on CBS,” possibly including the playoffs and Super Bowl 50.

The four custom-molded pylons with multiple HD cameras provide a unique perspective on the field for key plays.

The camera is just one of CBS’s technical innovations, which also include instant replay, the Telestrator, Action-Track System, CBS Chalkboard, real-time captioning, first ever game in HD and 3D replay technology.
