T.D. Jakes,” a new secular talk offering from Tegna kicks of its nationwide run today from a set that combines a wide array of materials to create a highly textural and layered feel.

The centerpiece of the set, from designer Matt Tognacci, is a circular carpeted area with both host, guest and audience setting, all of which is situated in front of a large video wall.

Flanking this feature wall are two highly vertical open shelving units with accent lighting directed downward on the knick knacks on display.

Branching out from here are two walls with seemingly random geometric faces — that are a bit reminiscent of acoustic tiles.  These walls are topped with exposed wood planks that work with the sets other wood tones.

Camera left of the set features a small raised platform framed by two faux brick columns and backed with a wooden screen. Behind the screen panels, two hanging pendant lights are visible, while faux plants sprout up from the knee wall in this area.

The opposite side of the studio features another set of faux brick columns and a slightly less raised platform with two chairs arranged in front of a backlit metal and plexi wall.

Although these types of walls typically convey a more flat and sleek appearance, the use of powerful downlights and hanging pendants add a bit of texture and depth to the area.

As the set transitions into the audience area on both sides, additional open shelving is visible.
