‘CBS Evening News’ moves to D.C. with a new look

CBS Evening News” started its “new era” in Washington, D.C. Monday, Dec. 2, 2019 with a new set, open and graphics that use a series of grid patterns, lines and references to the network’s logo.

The new studio, which replaces the set CBS originally built for “Face the Nation” in May 2018, is stocked with multiple video walls and LED panels that total over 41 million pixels, according to CBS.

Former “CBS This Morning” anchor and Norah O’Donnell took over “Evening” July 15 but broadcast mostly from New York.

While the new studio was under construction, “Face the Nation” originated from a temporary studio on the roof of a local law firm — with “Evening News” using the setup as well.

CBS worked with set designer Jim Fenhagen and the team at Jack Morton Worldwide over a six month period to design the new space.
