Things are heating up in the Wichita, Kan., market, according to several tipsters, with two stations readying new sets for their newscasts.

KAKE-TV, the Gray Television owned ABC affiliate, has disassembled part of its existing set and reassembled it in an alternative location for temporary use. In addition, the station is reportedly axing its “KAKEland Weather Plex,” a portion of the studio that was purportedly the largest weather set in the country. According to several tipsters, KAKE-TV weather staffers aren’t happy about the changes.

KWCH-TV, the market’s CBS station owned by Schurz Communications, is also broadcasting from a temporary set as it preps a new set. Some reports indicate the station continues to use its weather center and that a new set is being built in a separate studio.
