‘Colbert’ broadcasts from nation’s capital

Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” is broadcasting from George Washington University this week using a very presidential setup. Fitting, as President Barack Obama stopped by the show on Monday.

Jack Morton PDG designer Larry Hartman and fabricator blackwalnut worked with Comedy Central on the project, part of Colbert’s final two weeks on the network.

The setup includes a large rear projection screen stage center with projections of the “Colbert” seal and rings of stars. Large images hang on the right and left side of Stephen Colbert morphed with famous presidents, such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

The Washington inspired desk may look familiar, it was last used in 2010 when “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart interviewed President Obama.
