Lower thirds, bug and ticker

WINK’s new lower thirds are relatively simple — essentially just a white gradient with blue text that can have elements added around it as needed.

Careful attention was given to the text size to allow ample character counts while being as legible as possible. There’s the option to add a tier on top of the white element — typically with a K-point before the text.

Inserts with people’s names get a boxed K-point on the left side and use a pipe to separate the name and title. The width of these is roughly half that of the story headlines. For double anchor identifiers, a reflected white gradient is used with the “W” icon in the middle.

The “W” can also be used as a square bug element with just the time under it, but it typically expands to the station’s full name, becoming more rectangular in the process and also gaining the current temp separated by a pipe from the time.

The station also has the option to add elements such as radar loops in the lower left of the screen, in which case the time, temp and full WINK logo also get pushed onto a single line above the box and Doppler 3X branding.

A two-toned blue ticker bar can be neatly tucked under everything.

Vivid Zero also provided the station with a variety of sponsor layouts, including adding logos below the lower third or to the left or in the corner of the screen.

There are also variations that bleed to the edge of the screen, making the activation feel more integrated and adding logos in larger and smaller sizes to the top tier of the lower third.
