For the 2016 U.S. presidential election, NBC News temporarily updated Studio 4E, which debuted in summer 2016. Along with additional LED display technology, the footprint of the studio was expanded into the fourth-floor newsroom, with a glossy floor covering applied. NBC reused its “star desk” from the 2014 Midterms with additional plexiglass wings added.

On MSNBC, Studio 3A saw updates with additional LED walls added and some monitors removed to create a more open space. Throughout 2016, Studio 3A saw various updates with many remaining past the election.
