Although not as common as the other branding names mentioned here, “Pinpoint Weather” is short and well, to the point. It also emphasizes a more localized or even hyperlocal approach to weather. Another similar name, “All Points Weather,” was used for a period by WBRE in Pennsylvania to emphasis the station’s strategy of having multiple forecasters based in various locations throughout the viewing area on duty at the same time.
We can’t end a column on weather branding without mentioning AccuWeather.
AccuWeather provides forecast data, software, equipment and even full forecasts to TV stations throughout the United States. Many stations tack on the “AccuWeather” name to their own weather branding — either in its primary name or “Powered by AccuWeather.”
AccuWeather also owns the trademarks to the names “FirstWarn” and “FirstCast” that it licenses to stations as well. Also, the names “MinuteCast,” “RealFeel” and “Minute By Minute” are also owned by AccuWeather and used as specific features within forecasts across the country.
