Sports

The winner for our sports set design category is the set created for the MLB on TNT by Clickspring Design. The studio features a combination of high-tech video panels combined with ballpark inspired architectural elements, including faux brick and metal girders. The design also includes an anchor desk design inspired by home plate, while the left side of the set overlooks the green grassy skybox view of a ball field created using a series of LED video panels.

Local News

Broadcast Design International’s design for Los Angeles CBS O&O KCBS takes home the trophy in local news set design this year. The design features a mix of frames, backlit textures and metallic and glass surfaces combined with multiple video panels and walls to create a modern and dynamic news environment.

Honorable Mentions: WSB from Devlin Design Group, Fox Detroit from Devlin Design Group and Fox Boston from FX Design Group

 

Fan Vote

WRIC, from FX Design Group, took home the top honor in our viewer fan vote, after going head-to-head against cooking heavyweights Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. The WRIC set design centers around a rectangular motif that combines video walls, framework and backlit panels to create a dynamic and modern look.

 

Entertainment

Despite losing out on the fan vote, JPConnelly’s design for “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” was the judges’ pick in the entertainment set design category. The dual sided, yin-yang set design that echoed the seemingly drastic personality differences in domestic diva Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop Dogg, including dueling kitchens configured around a tree.
