We’re not sure when it was introduced, but Dateline NBC seems to be using a new background. We use the word “background” because the show switched from using its massive set in Rockefeller Plaza’s Studio 3B to using simple backgrounds. Previously, a duratran with real monitors mounted in front was used.

The new background consists of rather cheap looking faux windows with nighttime cityscape behind.
